More than 5,000 children within the age range of 10 to 15 smoke tobacco in Malawi- Tobacco Atlas. It is crystal evident that we as a country are paying a blind eye to the harms that are caused by tobacco yet it has caused a huge public health crisis and claiming lives of our beloved ones.
By being passive on addressing issues concerning tobacco harms, we are indirectly taming a next generation of smoking/nicotine addicts. Young stars like Jakili who are sent to sell tobacco cigarettes are not only exposed to the harmful effects of second-hand smoke, this ease access to the deadly substance can also make them get initiated to smoking and develop addiction at a tender age!
